How to build a startup without writing about tech and politics

You can’t write a great startup without talking about tech.

You can make a great product without writing a great post.

The problem with these strategies is that the two topics tend to go together.

That’s why it’s critical to have both.

So here’s a list of five ways to take your tech-centric writing to the next level without having to write about tech or politics.


Don’t talk about technology and politics.

If you want to get a rise out of your tech writers, don’t talk too much about technology.

They may not like it, but they’ll get bored of it.

So instead, make it about the company or idea that you want your writers to be talking about.

You might start with a sentence like, “We build something to make your life easier, not worse,” and then you can work your way up to a full-on blog post about how you built that.



Focus on the core of the problem.

This might seem like common sense, but it’s important.

It’s hard to write great content if you’re not sure what you’re doing.

Instead, focus on the problem itself and why it matters.

For example, you could focus on whether or not you have to make a decision every time you check your email.

If the answer is “yes,” then it means you should spend more time managing your inbox.

If it’s “no,” then you need to spend less time.

If your problem is something that needs to be fixed, then the more relevant your post is to your problem, the better.

If a story is written about a big company or an issue that’s important to the world, you want the writer to be the good guy.

Write about a problem that doesn’t matter to you and a company or issue that matters to your business.

You don’t want your readers to think, “Oh, he was doing this for the good of the company.”

Instead, read about the problem and then the company’s efforts to solve it. 4.

Write with empathy.

This isn’t just for tech writers.

If writing about politics and technology makes you feel like you’re speaking to an audience of angry white people, then write about something that’s different from the things you care about.

For instance, if your business is struggling to grow, write about how it can scale, whether you have a better chance at success if you use automation, and so on. 5.

Write as if it’s your job.

The best way to get noticed and be noticed is to write from the heart.
